Navtej was driving his Innova from Manewal village toward his residence in Krishna Nagar when he was waylaid by two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle near the Punjab Agro farm. Despite being rushed to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, the severity of the shooting proved fatal.
